Yeah, he is, but honestly that's not the thing that scares me most about him. What scares me isn't the thought that he won't be able to accomplish what he's promising, it's that he will. I've always kinda felt that our government works better when we come together. I don't think the Republicans or the Democrats have all the right answers, and I think we tend to get the best solutions out of Washington when we're forced to set aside those differences and work out compromises that accomplish (to some degree) the goals of both.

I think that's really the tragedy that caught Bush. It wasn't just that he made some poor decisions, it was that there was no one to call him on them, really. He had a Republican Congress behind him that wasn't doing proper oversight and wasn't providing the balance it was supposed to. Now Congress leans Democrat, and I'm really at least mildly afraid that if we elect Obama, we will see the sweeping changes that he's talking about. Maybe that's for the best, there are some dire problems facing us at the moment. But big change on that scale will always scare me a bit.

I liked McCain, but I don't like the direction his campaign has been going. Hopefully we'll see a return to who he used to be in the debates, but I'm really kinda doubting it at this point. The Saddleback forum discussion was kinda depressing. He seems kinda like someone who's jaded with the whole process and has just given up. I have a hard time believing Palin was his first choice, and I have a hard time believing his views on the issues are where the campaign portrays them at times. The Saddleback forum discussion was just painful. I'm sure he gave all the "correct" conservative answers, but... I don't know, I guess I'm just looking for a bit more thoughtful positions on things. Not saying the conservative view isn't thoughtful, saying he didn't explain any of the thought that went into why he felt that way. Especially on issues that he's changed his stance on, I really want to know why the change... and I don't feel like he's opened up on that yet.

Hoping for the debates, kinda doubting it'll give what I'm hoping though.
